Odierno Picked to Succeed Petraeus; Chiarelli Gets Army Vice Chief Nod

After first being tapped to serve as the Army's next vice chief of staff, Gen. Raymond Odierno has been picked to succeed Army Gen. David Petraeus as the top commander in Iraq, the Defense Department announced today. Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced that the president has nominated Petraeus to succeed Navy Adm. William Fallon as the next U.S. Central Command commander. Fallon left his post on March 28, and Army Lt. Gen Martin Dempsey has been serving as acting commander...
