Orbital Sciences Awarded $425 Million Contract For Alternate NMD Booster

The Missile Defense Agency today announced a $425 million contract award for the development of an alternate booster for the ground-based national missile defense program. The contract was awarded to Orbital Sciences Corporation through Boeing, the NMD lead system integrator. Late last year, Boeing selected Orbital Sciences' proposal for an alternate booster over proposals from Lockheed Martin and Boeing.
