Pentagon Announces First Littoral Combat Ship, the Freedom, to Deploy in the Spring

The Navy's first Littoral Combat Ship, the Lockheed Martin-built Freedom, is set to deploy to South America and the Pacific early next spring, the Defense Department announced this evening in a statement. The planned deployment was hinted at by senior admirals last month. "We're working to get LCS-1 out the door on a deployment in early spring of calendar year 2010," Vice Adm.
