Pentagon Gears Up for Life After 'FOUO'

Defense Department officials have created a task force to oversee the implementation of a new White House policy for labeling sensitive-but-unclassified information, according to a Dec. 28, 2007, Pentagon memo. The memo follows on the heels of a plan by Information Sharing Environment Program Manager Thomas McNamara to standardize the marking, safeguarding and dissemination of so-called controlled unclassified information (CUI) across government agencies.
