Pentagon to Offer DHS New Assistance in Complex Planning

The Defense Department plans to offer the Department of Homeland Security new assistance to enhance its planning for short-notice, large-scale mobilizations in response to domestic disasters, according to a senior Pentagon official. Paul McHale, assistant secretary of defense for homeland defense, said the military plans to set aside seats for Department of Homeland Security officials at the Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, VA, in a regular strategic planning course.
