Pentagon prepares for delays to research as coronavirus shutters academia

The coronavirus pandemic is expected to delay defense research at U.S. universities, as administrators and researchers grapple with social distancing measures, lab shutdowns, travel restrictions and potential gaps in grant funding. Since institutions began shuttering their campuses in mid-March, most researchers have shifted to continuing what work they can do remotely.
