Pentagon Recertifies Air Force JASSM Program

Pentagon acquisition czar John Young has notified Congress he has recertified the Air Force Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile acquisition program, which in the past had been marred by performance and cost issues. The Defense Department's top weapons' buyer -- who signed the acquisition decision memorandum on May 1 -- gave the service the OK to proceed with JASSM baseline and extended range increments of the munition.
