Pentagon reveals Ft. Drum, NY, as preferred East Coast interceptor site

The Defense Department has identified Ft. Drum, NY, as its preferred location for a continental United States interceptor site, telling lawmakers in a June 26 memo the location offers the best operational coverage of the four options they considered. The memo , drafted by Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Development Mike Griffin and obtained by Inside Defense , includes a key caveat -- the Defense Department does not currently have a requirement for an East Coast interceptor site...
