Pentagon Shifts $292 Million For KC-X Contract Award

The Pentagon has told Congress it has shifted nearly $300 million within the Air Force budget to free up funds needed to award the much-anticipated KC-X next-generation tanker contract, according to budget documents. The Dec. 13 reprogramming, signed by Pentagon Comptroller Robert Hale, is the latest indication that the Defense Department intends to award the multibillion-dollar aircraft deal in the coming months. The document informs Congress that the Pentagon has moved $291.6 million from the Air Force's “tanker transfer fund”...
