Pentagon Shifts Almost $600 Million to MRAP GFE, Sustainment

The Defense Department is shifting nearly $600 million from its Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle fund to pay for government-furnished equipment, upgrades and sustainment of the trucks. In an Oct. 19 reprogramming signed by DOD comptroller Robert Hale, the Defense Department directs that $592 million be transferred to the Army and Marine Corps for the blastproof trucks, meant to protect soldiers against roadside bombs.
