President Names U.S. Army Europe Nominee

The president has nominated Lt. Gen. Burwell Bell to lead U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, the Defense Department announced today. If confirmed, Bell, the commanding general of III Corps and Ft. Hood, TX, will take over for Gen. Montgomery Meigs, who is retiring. He is also in line for a fourth star. Bell has been at Ft. Hood since 2001.
