President Nominates New National Guard Bureau Chief

President Bush has nominated Army National Guard Maj. Gen. Steven Blum as the next chief of the National Guard Bureau, the Defense Department announced today. Blum is the chief of staff of U.S. Northern Command, which was established last Oct. 1. If approved by the Senate, Blum will acquire a third star and take over for Air Force Lt. Gen.
