Raytheon was awarded a $747 million contract yesterday to complete a sea-based X-band radar the Bush administration will use in the national missile defense system it plans to deploy by 2004. The X-band radar Raytheon is developing will sit atop a floating platform that can be towed into position to support the Pentagon's ground-based ballistic missile defense system.
