Request For Proposals Released For Fiscal Year 2010 Littoral Combat Ships

The final request for proposals for the two Littoral Combat Ships in fiscal year 2010 was released today, according to a Navy spokesman. The RFP was issued to the two competing LCS bidders, General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin. The contractors are building two different LCS designs. The GD design is an aluminum trimaran hull built at the Austal USA shipyard in Alabama and the Lockheed model is a steel monohull constructed at the Marinette Marine yard in Wisconsin. The winner...
