Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL), the top Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, called on the U.S. to build three Virginia-class attack submarines a year Wednesday at the Submarine Industrial Base Council’s Supplier Days event. Rogers said he supports Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Michael Gilday’s goal of growing the Navy to over 500 manned and unmanned ships.
