Senate appropriators aim to cut Large Surface Combatant funding

The Senate Appropriations Committee opposes a proposed increase to funding for the Large Surface Combatant, according to the panel's version of the fiscal year 2021 defense spending bill released yesterday. The Defense Department's FY-21 budget request included $46.45 million for development, prototyping, preliminary and contract design of a LSC class to replace the current DDG-51 Flight III destroyer.
