Senate Appropriators Approve $355 Billion FY-03 Spending Bill

The Senate Appropriations defense subcommittee this morning approved a $355.4 billion defense-spending bill for fiscal year 2003 in crisp, workmanlike fashion, the largest bill the subcommittee has ever passed, according to Chairman Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-HI). The Bush administration's request for a $10 billion emergency response fund, included in the FY-03 defense budget request, will be addressed as a separate supplemental appropriation, Inouye told InsideDefense.com .
