Senate Approves $317 Billion Defense Appropriations Package

The Senate this afternoon approved by voice vote a $317 billion conference agreement on the fiscal year 2002 defense appropriations bill. The House approved the bill by a 408-6 vote earlier today and the bill is now expected to be signed soon by President Bush. The bill includes $19.2 million more than was appropriated for defense in FY-01.
