Senate Approves Army General For New Deputy Chief of Staff Slot

The Senate last week approved the appointment of a three-star Army general to the new position of deputy chief of staff for programs. Lt. Gen. Kevin Byrnes, who was the assistant vice chief of staff, will be the first DCSPRO. The Senate approved his confirmation Oct. 6. The DCSPRO's duties will encompass those of the assistant vice chief, which will be disestablished, as well as some duties previously assigned to the deputy chief of staff for operations and plans.
