Senate Approves Defense Appropriations Conference Bill

The Senate today approved a $355 billion defense appropriations conference agreement for fiscal year 2003 by a 93-1 vote. The House approved the bill last week and President Bush is expected to sign the measure soon. The Defense Department has been operating under a series of continuing resolutions Congress passed starting Oct. 1, when the new fiscal year began, while action on the appropriations bill continued.
