Senate Considers FY-07 Emergency Request, Including $24.5 Billion for New Weapons

The Senate this afternoon began debate on its version of a fiscal year 2007 emergency supplemental spending package that includes $24.5 billion in new equipment for U.S. forces operating in Iraq and Afghanistan. The bill being discussed is a $121 billion spending package that includes $92 billion for the Pentagon and $18 billion for non-defense projects.
