Senate Cyber Bill Would Empower President To Take Action To Protect Infrastructure

A cybersecurity bill introduced in the Senate today would give the president the authority to take new steps to protect "covered critical infrastructure" in the event of a "national cyber emergency" and grant immunity to companies that comply with presidential orders. The bill, however, stops short of defining an act of cyber war, Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Chairman Joseph Lieberman (ID-CT) said today.
