Senate panel approves nearly $8B increase of FY-18 funding for the Navy

The Senate Armed Services Committee approved nearly an additional $8 billion increase for Navy and Marine Corps unfunded requirements in the panel's mark of the fiscal year 2018 defense policy bill. The bulk of the increase -- $6 billion -- resides in the service's procurement account to pay for 10 F/A-18 Super Hornets, six F-35s, four F-35Bs and six P-8A Poseidons.
