Senate Passes Amendment to Boost Army End Strength

The Senate today passed an amendment to the $87 billion supplemental appropriations bill that would increase the number of active-duty Army troops by 10,000. The amendment, sponsored by Sens. Jack Reed (D-RI) and Chuck Hagel (R-NE), is aimed at relieving some of the stress on the service and, in particular, the Army National Guard and Army Reserve, Hagel said in a statement.
