Senate's defense policy bill proposes conventional LRSO fielding deadline

Senate authorizers want to tie a congressional requirement to develop a conventional variant of the Long-Range Standoff Weapon to initial operational test and evaluation, not initial operational capability as current law stipulates. The Senate Armed Services Committee's version of the fiscal year 2019 defense policy bill would remove an existing requirement to reach IOC for a conventional variant before the legacy Conventional Air-Launched Cruise Missile retires, and direct the Air Force to start procuring and fielding a replacement conventional missile...
