Shock Trial Plans Currently Push CVN-78 Deployment Back To FY-21

The shock trials being conducted on the aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) will push the ship's initial deployment to fiscal year 2021 under the Navy's current plan for the program. The full-ship shock trials on the first-in-class carrier are scheduled for FY-19. Following the trials, the ship is scheduled for its first maintenance availability in FY-20, according to Rear Adm.
