THAAD Fight Test Halted After Target Malfunction

The Missile Defense Agency aborted a Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense system test today after the target malfunctioned in midflight, according to the agency. At 4:30 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time, a Hera target missile was launched from White Sands Missile Range, NM, according to an MDA statement. However, two minutes into its flight, range safety officers destroyed the target missile when a problem arose, an MDA spokesman told Inside the Army today.
