USAF awards Lockheed contract for up to $7.2B in sole-source GPS III Follow-On deal

The Air Force formally announced today it has awarded GPS III incumbent Lockheed Martin a sole-source contract worth up to $7.2 billion to develop 22 follow-on satellites. Lockheed is currently on contract to build the first 10 GPS III satellites -- the first of which is expected to launch in December. This new fixed-price contract brings that total to 32, with the first GPS III Follow-On, or GPS IIIF, satellite slated to be available for launch in 2026. Inside Defense...
