V-22 May Have Been in 'Helicopter Mode'

Eyewitnesses say the MV-22 Osprey that crashed in North Carolina last night was in helicopter mode when it went down, according to an internal Marine Corps message reviewed by Inside the Navy . The message, sent early this morning to Lt. Gen. Fred McCorkle, deputy commandant for aviation, says eyewitnesses reported seeing the aircraft "in helicopter mode just prior to entry into the trees."
