Young Cancels Armed Recon Helicopter Program

Senior Pentagon and Army officials yesterday decided to terminate the troubled Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter program during a review that was prompted by another large cost increase for the aircraft. Pentagon officials today notified Congress and ARH builder Bell Helicopter that the program would not be certified to continue after program costs were reported to have risen 43 percent since 2005, according to a Defense Department announcement.
