DOD directive on USD(P)

The June 23, 2020 Defense Department directive "updates the responsibilities and functions, relationships, and authorities of the [under secretary of defense for policy] and authorizes the USD(P), as a Principal Staff Assistant (PSA) reporting directly to the Secretary of Defense, to establish DOD policy in DOD issuances within the responsibilities and functions and authorities assigned in this issuance, and to reissue chartering DOD Directives (DODDs) for [Office of the Secretary of Defense] officials who were appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate and who are under the authority, direction, and control of the USD(P)."
