Republicans are working on a short-term extension of the stopgap spending bill to avert a government shutdown Dec. 8, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) said Nov. 30. The GOP continues to negotiate with Democrats, who demand parity between defense and non-defense budget increases.
