U.S. Southern Command chief Gen. James Hill told senators last week that Army-led military aid to Colombia was yielding significant progress in the troubled nation. In an Oct. 29 hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Hill gave a largely positive report on recent U.S. military efforts there, saying the U.S.-trained Colombian army is growing more capable of conducting offensive operations against the country's "narcoterrorists."
