Senate passes defense spending 'minibus' that boosts F-35, LCS and other programs

The Senate voted Sept. 18 to pass a final fiscal year 2019 appropriations "minibus" by a 93-7 vote that includes $675 billion for defense. If the House, which returns to session next week, can pass the bill and send it to the president for his signature before the beginning of the new fiscal year on Oct. 1, it will be the first time in recent memory that the Defense Department has received an on-time appropriation.
