AE Industrial Partners buys UAV Factory

Private-equity firm AE Industrial Partners said today it has acquired UAV Factory to serve as a new unmanned technology platform.

Founded in 2009, UAV Factory specializes in tactical unmanned aerial vehicle design and manufacturing for defense, intelligence and commercial customers in more than 55 countries, AE said. It is based in Riga, Latvia, and has a location in Bend, OR.

"The Company has a unique vertical integration strategy, whereby it designs and produces airframes, engines, stabilized EO/IR ISR payloads and related components in-house for the unmanned and manned aircraft industry," the firm added.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, and AE Industrial Partners said it will look to "further invest in this fast-growing market." UAV Factory's chief executive, Konstantin Popiks, will remain with the company.
