The Air Force Research Lab is soliciting white papers for a project that aims to develop prototypes of artificial intelligence and machine learning applications that support mobility, battle management and combat operations.

The service is interested in solutions for several planning and execution operations, according to a broad agency announcement, which lists eight possible focus areas -- including flight monitoring for aeromedical evacuation, information exchange between battle managers, pilots and planners, contingency planning for dynamic targeting and assigning mission development tasks to balance workload.

Total funding for the BAA is $24.9 million, to be obligated through several awards starting in fiscal year 2020. The first white papers are due August 22.

AFRL will hold an industry day August 2 at the Griffiss Institute in Rome, NY, to provide an overview of the program, called Operationalizing Machine Learning for Command and Control. Interested companies should register by July 31.
