AFRL pursuing new partnerships to support directed-energy experiments

The Air Force Research Laboratory released a notice today announcing it's launching a two-step research opportunity to work with multiple partners on directed-energy experiments.

AFRL is first requesting white papers within eight topic areas: DE sources, including laser and high-power electromagnetic systems; beam control; DE weapons; effects testing; modeling and simulation; wargaming; testing and demonstrations; and laboratory materials.

The lab may then issue solicitations to support specific requirements using a variety of different contracting mechanisms. The effort currently has no cost ceiling or specified period of performance.
