Air Force awards contract to L3 to rehost Compass Call on G550

The Air Force has awarded an undefinitized contract to L3 Technologies to move EC-130H Compass Call equipment to the Gulfstream G550 commercial business jet, a service spokeswoman said today.

"After their analysis and sharing that with the program office, L3 has decided to use the Gulfstream 550 Airborne Early Warning aircraft as the new platform," Ann Stefanek told Inside Defense in an email Friday, two weeks after the Government Accountability Office scrapped protests from Boeing and Bombardier challenging the EC-X acquisition.

Terms of the contract, work specifications and price are not yet set under the undefinitized contract action. The Air Force did not immediately respond to questions Friday morning.
