Air Force awards Learjet $464M contract for up to six E-11A aircraft

The Air Force this week awarded Learjet a $464 million contract for up to six Bombardier Global 6000 business jets, which will be converted into E-11A aircraft and equipped with a key communications node.

The modifications include installing the Northrop Grumman-built Battlefield Airborne Communications Node on the aircraft, which provides data relay and communication between aircraft.

The service received funding in fiscal year 2021 to buy the first E-11 aircraft and requested $124 million in its FY-22 budget to buy two more.
