Inside Defense has obtained fiscal year 2018 unfunded priorities lists for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps, totaling approximately $32 billion.
The military services typically send Congress UPLs, commonly known as "wish lists," following the budget submission to communicate unaddressed capability gaps.
The Army has identified $12.7 billion in unfunded priorities, the Air Force $10.7 billion, the Navy $5.5 billion and the Marine Corps $3.1 billion.
The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter is a key item on the lists submitted by the Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps, as the services have identified the need for a total of 24 additional aircraft in FY-18.
