BAE Systems will complete a study on incorporating a command, control, communications and computers/unmanned aerial systems mission payload on the Marine Corps Amphibious Combat Vehicle.

The ACV variant would allow the Marine Corps to observe its surroundings, collect information and sense targets over the horizon, according to today’s press release.

“This has the potential to provide the Marine Corps significant economies of scale in development and life-cycle management costs,” the press release states.

Pending the results of the study, the Marine Corps may decide to pursue a modification of ACV to install the C4/UAS payload, according to BAE.

The company has received two full-rate production contracts to deliver the ACV command variant (ACV-C) and the ACV personnel variant (ACV-P). A 30 mm cannon (ACV-30) variant and a recovery variant (ACV-R) are in development.

The ACV is set to replace the Marine Corps’ Assault Amphibious Vehicle.
