President Biden intends to nominate David Honey to be deputy under secretary of defense for research and engineering, according to a White House announcement.

Honey, a retired Air Force officer, is currently a special assistant to the director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

Previously, he served as the director of science and technology in the office of the director of national intelligence and as the deputy assistant secretary of defense for research in the Defense Department.

Meanwhile, the Senate last month confirmed Heidi Shyu, Biden's pick to be the Pentagon's research and engineering chief.
