Boeing said it will begin as early as today a "safe and orderly restart of limited operations in the Puget Sound region."

"The resumption of operations will focus on our defense programs, including P-8 and KC-46, and Moses Lake site operations in support of 737 MAX storage," the company said. "Other essential labs and support teams will also resume to support critical customer needs. The resumption of targeted operations involves about 2,500 employees."

Boeing said it has put in place new procedures at all of its sites, including employee wellness checks at the start of each shift, staggered shift times, a policy of one person per row on site shuttles. Employees in Washington must wear masks or face coverings, Boeing added.

The company first announced the suspension of operations in late March.
