Booz Allen Hamilton said today sales in its fiscal year 2018 reached $6.1 billion, up 6 percent from 2017.

The contractor's profit for the year hit $305 million, up nearly 21 percent from the prior year.

Booz Allen said its headcount grew by more than 1,300 -- or nearly 6 percent -- over the prior year. It also said it benefited from the new tax law, including realizing $14.2 million as a result of a lower federal tax rate.

During a morning call with analysts, Horacio Rozanski, Booz Allen's chief executive, praised the budget environment.

"We feel good about . . . the strength of the markets. It's frankly, for my money, one of the best markets we've seen, at least in the last five years," he said. "It's late passage of the budget, but there is a budget, and we're going to take full advantage of those opportunities."
