ANNAPOLIS, MD -- The Congressional Budget Office plans to release its updated analysis of the Navy's fiscal year 2019 30-year shipbuilding plan in the next few days, Eric Labs, a senior analyst focused on naval forces, told attendees today at an expeditionary warfare conference here.

The analysis, which CBO conducts each year the service publishes a new plan, is mandated by Congress. Previously, CBO has stated the Navy will require a shipbuilding budget of $27 billion to $28 billion each year to sustain a 355-ship fleet.

Congress appropriated roughly $24 billion for shipbuilding in the FY-19 defense spending bill.
