DOD nominees face Senate committee next week

The Senate Armed Services Committee is slated to convene May 25 to consider President Biden's nominations for three senior Pentagon posts, including Air Force secretary.

Biden has nominated Frank Kendall to be Air Force secretary. Kendall previously served in the Obama administration as the Pentagon's acquisition chief.

The committee will also consider the nomination of Heidi Shyu to be under secretary of defense for research and engineering. Shyu served in the Obama administration as the Army's acquisition chief.

Additionally, the committee will consider the nomination of Susanna Blume to be director of cost assessment and program evaluation.

Blume, who is currently working at the Pentagon as acting CAPE director, previously served in the Obama administration as deputy chief of staff for programs and plans to the deputy secretary of defense.
