(This story has been updated with a statement from the Pentagon.)

A draft of the Nuclear Posture Review has leaked to the media in advance of its planned release in February.

The document, published late Thursday by the Huffington Post, is marked "for official use only" and "pre-decisional." The Guardian also posted a story about the document.

The Pentagon released a statement Friday noting that the NPR has been subject to a multidraft process and has yet to be finalized.

"Our discussion has been robust and several draft[s] have been written," according to the statement. "However, the Nuclear Posture Review has not been completed and will ultimately be reviewed and approved by the President and the Secretary of Defense. As a general practice, we do not discuss pre-decisional, draft copies of strategies and reviews."
