The Army is set to embark on a new vehicle upgrade program that will likely draw industry rivals BAE Systems and General Dynamics Land Systems into another intense competition, according to a new story from Inside Defense.

Along with uncovering details about a new GDLS prototype to upgrade the Army's M113 armored personnel carrier -- an opportunity BAE thought it had already cornered with its Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle -- Inside Defense reveals an internal Army document that could cause conflict on Capitol Hill between BAE and GDLS supporters. We also interviewed a three-star general who provided a detailed look at the Army acquisition strategy.

The story, which was made available to subscribers July 6, is now free here.
