Hynes tapped to lead Applied Insight

Applied Insight said today it has named John Hynes, the former CEO of TASC and chief operating officer of Engility, to serve as chief executive.

He takes over from Gavin Long, managing partner at Applied Insight backer the Acacia Group, an investment firm.

Hynes will be tasked with overseeing the company's growth strategies and managing its current and future acquisitions, Applied Insight said.

Hynes led TASC before it was acquired by Engility; he later became COO of Engility. He also previously worked at Science Applications International Corp. and ManTech International.

Applied Insight was created last year after the Acacia Group acquired and then split Intelligent Decisions. The federal contractor was cut into two companies: ID Technologies, a products business, and Applied Insight, a professional services business.
