Some must-reads from this week's issue of Inside the Navy:

1. The chairman of the House seapower subcommittee has asked the Congressional Budget Office for a report on how quickly the Navy could ramp to build a 355-ship Navy and he will use the findings to frame upcoming congressional hearings.

2. The Navy will not update a "revised" fiscal year 2017 unfunded priorities list until the White House releases its defense strategy, but the service has outlined increases in shipbuilding to reflect the 2016 Force Structure Assessment, including acquiring an additional amphibious dock landing ship.

3. The Navy is open to both Huntington Ingalls Industries and General Dynamics' NASSCO building the next-generation of amphibious ships.
